Chicago area. She is an internationally recognized leader in sustainable
design and environmentally sound building practices. Her portfolio
consists of more than 60 LEED projects, including prominent projects
such as the LEED Platinum Hidden Oaks Nature Center and the Bachelor
Enlisted Quarters at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center - one of the
first LEED certified buildings in the country. Her career has spanned
over 20 years, through which she has remained at the forefront of the
evolution of the green movement facilitating the integration of
sustainability into the built environment. Vitt Sale also has
contributed to the development of policy that has resulted in more

Lois has participated in the development of policies to reduce the
negative impacts of the built environment on the health of people and
our natural resources. Her special area of expertise is the intersection

City, State, and Federal entities. In addition, Lois applies these
technologies and practices to leading-edge sustainable designs and
consulting to design teams and clients to maximize the environmental
potential for projects. Lois is also an adjunct faculty at Northwestern
University, where she teaches sustainable construction, and LEED Faculty
with the U.S. Green Building Council. She was also an integral part of
the CDB Green Design & Construction Seminar, participated in a Green
Building Trade Mission to China, was a member of the Illinois Climate
Change Advisory Group, and Policy Committee for Green Roofs for Healthy
